NAVI: (Flying toward LINK who is still asleep, NAVI is now floating above LINK) Hello,
Link! Wake up! (LINK doesn't respond) The Great Deku Tree wants to talk to you! Link, get up!

LINK: (Turns to his other side)

NAVI: (Now flying in a frenzy around LINK) Hey! C’mon! Can Hyrule’s destiny really depend on such a lazy boy?

LINK: (Sitting up and rubbing his eyes, he yawns and looks at NAVI)

NAVI: (Ceases her frantic flying and stops, again floating above LINK)

LINK: (Now sitting on the edge of his bed still looking at NAVI)

NAVI: You finally woke up! I’m Navi the fairy! The Great Deku Tree asked me to be your partner from now on! Nice to meet you! The Great Deku Tree has summoned you! So let’s get going… right now!

LINK: (With a surprised and confused look on his face, nods and gets out of bed, followed by NAVI, he walks out of his house)

SARIA: (Running, followed by her fairy, to LINK’s house, she stops and waves to LINK while looking up at him) Yahoo! Hi, Link!
LINK: (Climbs down the latter of his house, as he lives in a tree house, and walks toward SARIA)

SARIA: (Surprised and happy) Wow! A fairy! Finally, a fairy came to you, Link! Wow! That’s great news! I’m so happy for you! Now you’re a true Kokiri, Link! Is that right? The Great Deku Tree has summoned you?

LINK: (Nods “yes” to SARIA)

SARIA: It’s quite an honor to talk to the Great Deku Tree. I’ll wait for you here. Get going! Go see the Great Deku Tree!

LINK: (Makes his way toward the path to the Deku Tree until he gets stopped by MIDO at the entrance)

MIDO: (Stepping in front of LINK and putting his hand out) Hey, you! “Mr. No-Fairy!” What’s your business with the Great Deku Tree? Without a fairy, you’re not even a real man! (Glances up to see NAVI, he is very surprised) Wait, What?! You've got a fairy with you?!

NAVI: The Great Deku Tree happened to summon Link.

MIDO: (Even more surprised) Say what? The Great Deku Tree actually summoned you? Whaaaaaaat?! Why would he summon you and not me, the great Mido? (Crossing his arms, angered by the news) This isn't funny… I don’t believe it! You aren't even fully equipped yet! How do you think you’re going to help the Great Deku Tree without both a sword and shield ready?

LINK: (Looks at MIDO curiosly)

MIDO: What? Okay you’re right- I don’t have my equipment ready, but… If you want to pass through here, you should at least equip a sword and a shield! Sheesh!

LINK: (Walks away from MIDO and into the Kokiri shop)

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: (Trying to look over the counter, as he is very short) Welcome! What would you like?

LINK: (Pointing at the Deku shield)

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: You want the shield?

LINK: (Nods “yes”)

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: (Taking the Deku shield off the shelf and putting it on the counter) That will be forty rupees.

LINK: (Shocked by the price of the Deku shield, takes out his wallet and gives KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER two red rupees)

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: (Takes the two red rupees and gives LINK the Deku shield) Thank you.

LINK: (Straps the Deku shield to his back)

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: Will there be anything else?

NAVI: Do you have a sword?

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: A sword, around here? The only sword you’re gonna find in the entire forest is the Kokiri Sword! And that’s a treasure.

NAVI: Do you have any idea where we could find it?

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: Do you think if I knew that I would be a shop keeper? Though if I had to guess it would probably be somewhere in the Lost Woods. But I wouldn’t recommend looking too much in there. You know the stories right?

LINK: (Nods his head to signify he is familiar with the stories)

NAVI: Stories? You mean if you get lost in there?

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: They say when a Kokiri gets lost in the Lost Woods; they turn into a Skull Kid, strange creatures that are said to attack anyone who comes near. I heard a rumor that if an outsider gets lost they turn into a stalfos.

NAVI: A stalfos?

KOKIRI SHOP KEEPER: Skeletal warriors who work for dark forces. Like I said, I wouldn’t recommend going there, only if you follow a specific path can you navigate the woods without danger.

NAVI: We’ll keep that in mind. Thank you.

LINK: (Leaves the shop with NAVI)

NAVI: What should we do now Link? It sounds too dangerous in the Lost Woods.

LINK: (Looks at NAVI and continues in the direction of the garden)

NAVI: You have an idea?

LINK: (Walks up to the end of the garden where he finds a wall, looking for anything that could help)

NAVI: Hey! (Flies up to a bush up against the wall)

LINK: (Pushes aside the bush to reveal a crawl space, he crawls through and finds a large chest)

NAVI: Hey! Look! A chest!

LINK: (Opens the large chest and finds the Kokiri Sword and holds it above his head, he takes off the Deku shield and straps the Kokiri Sword to his back and buts the shield over it, goes back through the crawl space and goes back to MIDO in front of the path to the Deku Tree)

MIDO: If you want to see the Great Deku Tree, you should at least equip a sword and a shield! (Surprised) Eh, what’s that?! Oh, you have a Deku Shield… (Even more surprised) And what’s THAT?! Is that the Kokiri Sword?! (Crosses his arms) GOOD GRIEF! Well, even with all that stuff, a wimp is still a wimp, huh? I, the great Mido, will never accept you as one of us! Shoot! How did you get to be the favorite of Saria and the Great Deku Tree? Huh?! (Grumbles to himself and gets out of LINK’s way)

LINK: (Continues on his way to the GREAT DEKU TREE)

NAVI: Great Deku Tree… I’m back! (The camera focuses on the GREAT DEKU TREE)

GREAT DEKU TREE: Oh… Navi… Thou hast returned… Link… Welcome… Listen carefully to what I, the Deku Tree, am about to tell thee… Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless and full of nightmares… As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it… Verily, thou hast felt it… Link… The time has come to test thy courage… I have been cursed… I need thee to break the curse with thy wisdom and courage. Dost thou have courage enough to undertake this task? (The camera cuts to LINK’s face)

LINK: (Nods “yes” with a determined look on his face, the camera cuts back to the GREAT DEKU TREE)

GREAT DEKU TREE: Then enter, brave Link, and thou too, Navi. Navi the fairy… Thou must aid Link… And, Link… When Navi speaks, listen well to her words of wisdom… (The GREAT DEKU TREE’s mouth opens like a door for LINK)

NAVI: Let’s go Link.

LINK: (Enters the GREAT DEKU TREE)
